In my experience, dehumidifiers with pumps break more often.<\/span><\/div>\n\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Product testing is important to us here at HouseFresh, so before I take you through our shortlist of the best dehumidifiers, let me tell you a little bit about how we tested each device.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"gb-text toc-include\" data-name=\"How we test\" class=\"gb-text toc-include\" data-name=\"How we test\" id=\"how-we-test-dehumidifiers-1h2\">How we test dehumidifiers<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To put this list together, I purchased 13 of the most popular dehumidifier models across all sizes, ranging from large 145-pint devices to tiny machines designed to be used in a cupboard. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"gb-element-02e797bd\">\n<div>\n<p>We used our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/dp\/B09C24TYGQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Levoit Classic 300S humidifier<\/a> to raise humidity levels to 94% inside our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gorillagrowtent.com\/blogs\/news\/introducing-the-shorty\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Shorty Gorilla Grow Tent<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We left the tent for five minutes for the numbers to stabilize before we set the dehumidifier to top speed for 30 minutes, gathering humidity data with our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/dp\/B08PKVRJJX\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">SensorPush wireless hygrometer<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1000\" height=\"563\" class=\"gb-media-fab171f9\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/housefresh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/housefresh-dehumidifier-test.gif\" title=\"housefresh-dehumidifier-test\">\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"gb-element-520c6671\">\n<div>\n<p>We repeated the performance test a minimum of three times for each device, and we also tested the natural decay inside our tent without any dehumidifier running.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To compare the performance across the different dehumidifiers, we exported the data and <a href=\"https:\/\/public.flourish.studio\/visualisation\/24087723\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">visualized it<\/a> using Flourish.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div>\n<div class=\"flourish-embed flourish-chart\" data-src=\"visualisation\/24087723\"><script src=\"https:\/\/public.flourish.studio\/resources\/embed.js\"><\/script><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/public.flourish.studio\/visualisation\/24087723\/thumbnail\" width=\"100%\" alt=\"chart visualization\" \/><\/noscript><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"gb-element-fcf413ed\">\n<div>\n<p>Next, we measured how much electricity each dehumidifier pulls at different speeds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To do this, we used our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.co.uk\/dp\/B085S7Q1T4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">MECHEER power meter<\/a> for UK devices and our <a href=\"https:\/\/poniie.com\/products\/26\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Poniie PN2500 energy meter<\/a> for U.S. devices.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1000\" height=\"563\" class=\"gb-media-f4295961\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/housefresh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/dehumidifier-energy-test.gif\" title=\"dehumidifier-energy-test\">\n\n\n\n<p><br><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"gb-element-0bc1ef57\">\n<div>\n<p>Lastly, we used our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/dp\/B00ECCZWWI\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">BAFX Sound Level Meter<\/a> to measure how much noise in decibels each dehumidifier generates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We conducted this test from three feet away, the same way we measure noise levels of the air purifiers we test.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1000\" height=\"563\" class=\"gb-media-f0db22f1\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/housefresh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/dehumidifiers-sound-test.gif\" title=\"dehumidifiers-sound-test\">\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"gb-element-f0324ae4\">\n<div>\n<p>In addition to these tests, we used each of the dehumidifiers in our own home to assess how well they perform at removing moisture from the air in different rooms over several months.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is generally the most eye-opening stage in our testing as we experienced the same issue twice across different dehumidifiers: the internal pump of both the <a href=\"https:\/\/housefresh.com\/homelabs-4000-sq-ft-dehumidifier-review\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">hOmeLabs 4000 sq. ft.<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/housefresh.com\/moiswell-145-pint-dehumidifier-review\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Moiswell 145 pint (Defender XP70)<\/a> broke within a couple of months of daily
